The 2023 Porsche Taycan is a great car.
Since its debut over two years ago, the Taycan has been popular worldwide. Porsche has sold a combined 75,000 units of its Taycan sedan, Sport Turismo, and Cross Turismo wagons to be exact.
Now, Porsche has announced 2023 updates that will affect even the earliest Taycan models.
Those changes include greater range and faster charging. It also has a faster infotainment system and Variable Light Control for all Taycans with the panoramic glass roof. You’ll also love the easier setup of the Porsche Dashcam.
And it all starts at $86,700.
Let’s take a closer look at what makes the 2023 Porsche Taycan updates exciting.
The battery and range.
Car & Driver recently test drove the 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo, which is the new vehicle with the longest range BEVs with the Longest Driving Range. Porsche has updated the Taycan’s 71.0-kWh and 83.7-kWh batteries’ cooling and heating strategy to allow it to precondition quicker and to a higher temperature. “The result is getting the battery ready to reach its 270-kW maximum charging speed at a higher state of charge,” the magazine reported. “This means instead of having the peak available only between states of charge between 5 to 15 percent, even if charging begins at 30 percent, it’s possible to reach DC fast-charging speeds of up to 270 kW thanks to the car’s 800-volt architecture.” Best of all: this charging change will be offered as a free update for current Taycan owners. The change is expected to reduce charging times and at the same time provide an additional 31 miles of range.
Also updated is the2023 Taycans’ PCM 6.0 infotainment software. It now has a revised and more colorful user interface as well as wireless Android Auto. This is a free update that is available to all Taycan buyers, past and present, even those who bought the first models. The upgrade will allow you to filter charging stations by power output. That, in turn, allows you to prioritize the quickest chargers nearby.
Variable Light Control.
Now available on all Taycans, the Variable Light Control feature impacts your panoramic glass roof. It allows you, the driver, to change the roof from clear to opaque. You also get an updated preparation treatment for its dashcam – a wiring harness for optional front and rear Porsche Tequipment safety cameras.
